Harpers is pleased to introduce a NEW database service, which offers FREE SEARCHING of an index to over 50,000 photographs of individuals who served in or around the Great War period.

Photographic sources include newspapers, school, university, company, town and county rolls of honour, regimental histories and Harpers own archives.

Online searches can be made by individual’s last name, which will result in a list of possible matches and preliminary details to aid identification, which will include initials and or first names/s, surname, unit served and rank. A second screening is available in which any further known details are displayed. These ‘extra’ details may include any attributable awards, date of death, commission date, ship served, etc. All details are as provided in the original source of the photograph.

Where a match is obtained, the source and/or copy of the photograph can be purchased. In many instances, biographies also appear with the photograph in the original source and these can be provided with copies of the photographs. For details, see photographic image services (provide link)

Murphy’s Register is also available in CD form and can be used in pc or Apple Mac systems:

Single-User Copy (individual purchasers) £117.50 (incl. VAT at 17.5%).
Multi-User Copy (groups, societies, libraries, organisations) £188.00 (incl. VAT at 17.5%).

The cd provides the whole database to 30 September 2005, in a relational form, including the source. Searches can be made in a number of different ways, including last name, awards, unit served and photograph source. The cd does not include copies of photographs.
